      A lot to explain in a minute (check out the full video) or the description of the short. In Australia I predominately got offered day rates between $180-$250 a day. But this could be good for short days, but frequently the days lasted 10-12h. Cambodia payed by commission, around $20 per diver or then around $60 per course I signed a diver up for. In Comoros, I was paid a monthly salary of 1000 euro. Which was pretty good consider food and accommodation was included.

    i hope that this is not a too private question, but how do you deal with your retirement arrangement? Especially also coming from Switzerland, i did also always dream about working as a dive instructor uproad. But if i think about skipping one year of AVS/AHV and not having anpension fund, i almost panick. And i can not imagine, to not have the choice to live in CH whe i am old. How do you feel about that?

    • @OceanPancake
      @OceanPancake День тому

      Really great question! When I started teaching diving, I never thought about my retirement and until quite recently. I have been working as a teacher so that contributes to it now, but I have a lot left than many colleagues due to traveling for diving. I wouldn't exchange the experiences of teaching diving around the world. Would you lose your Swiss citizenship / residency?

    Great video! Thanks for sharing your experience. Any thoughts on when is too young to progress through the ranks? My son just finished his junior advanced OW but his instructor recommended he wait another year before the rescue diver course so he’s going to do nitrox now instead.

    • @OceanPancake
      @OceanPancake День тому

      How old is your son? 12-14 year old can get their junior rescue card, so would probably be good to wait until he is able to do his full adult one. Dive master and instructor is only possible from 18 anyway, so may as well space out the certifications. Does he want to be a professional diver?

    Jesus Christ is coming back and soon things are happening in the water that are spooking these animals to the point where they are traveling on top of each other and seeking human aid or commiting mass suicide is just another sign that the end draws close l. When Jesus cast the demon out of the man into the swine they jumped into the sea. Their home is the sea it's the only place they can truly be concealed because we traverse the depths of the ocean safely.

    yeah good choice because you are young and you have a lot of road to travel. when i started scuba diving at age 40ish I already had a stable career as a design architect and being a contractor on the side. I became an instructor three years after I got first certified as a diver which was an unexpected turn then started this path teaching on the side. Now as an Instructor Trainer and Course Director 9 years later I am still teaching not only on a beginner level but instructor level as well and molding them on ways to teach their courses. And yes I am already retired from my day job 5 years ago and just doing what I love the most which is teaching scuba diving.

    Your channel was called The Vegan Experiment, right? Your decision to eat fish was a logical result from that experiment. You don’t do an experiment to prove a preconceived idea, but to discover new things. You discovered that in certain circumstances you needed to eat fish. And you acted based on that discovery instead of trying to follow a dogma that would be dangerous for you. That’s being smart, open and wise. You did great.

    I agree 100% that this type of behavior absolutely must change as soon as possible however it will take participation from everyone involved, both men and women. You are absolutely correct in your statement that this type of interaction has become normalized. There are some complete pigs out there that we can call out all day and they will likely never change however I believe that there are also a lot of men that are acclimated to this current normalization of sexist behavior and if it were brought to their attention they would be mortified. The thing is, both men and women need to address this when it happens and not weeks later on a UA-cam video without the participation of everyone involved. Maybe before you posted this it would have been a good idea to reach out to Woody and Gus? They very well might have surprised you with their reaction and response…. I’m also curious about this, was Sarah on board with calling out Gus and Woody like this? In summary I can say that I’m disappointed that you felt uncomfortable in retrospect but I’m also disappointed that you seem to have employed what can arguably be described as potentially canceling ambush tactics to bring up your feelings.
